Commercial Executive

Paltora

Flexible hours | Permanent | Hybrid | Sales / Strategy & Consultancy / Project Management & Business Development

https://jobs.gg/vacancy/25631/commercial-executive

Level: Graduate trainee / early-career professional
Location: Guernsey
Working days: Tuesday–Thursday inclusive
Terms: Part-time paid position or internship arrangement with expenses

We are seeking an exceptional early-career individual with the intellectual ability, ambition and commercial potential to develop into a high-performing professional across business development, marketing, commercial strategy and potentially executive search.

This is a highly unusual opportunity to work directly alongside a senior global Partner with more than 25 years’ experience in the industry. Having recently relocated to Guernsey, while continuing to work between Guernsey, London and internationally, the Partner is looking to establish dedicated local support — creating an opportunity that would not ordinarily exist within the Guernsey market.

The Partner leads a global practice within one of the world’s leading Tier 1 executive search and elite leadership advisory firms, working with major, international organisations and with the most senior executives and Board members globally.

The successful individual will work closely with the Partner and receive substantial exposure to the commercial side of a global professional-services business. The position is designed to combine practical support with structured development, training and significant on-the-job learning.

The Role

Responsibilities will include:

  • Business development: supporting targeted client-development campaigns, outreach programmes, regular client touchpoints and relationship-development initiatives.
  • Marketing and events: helping develop and execute marketing activities, events and an organised annual business-development programme.
  • LinkedIn and social media: researching markets and individuals, identifying relevant contacts and supporting professional social-media activity.
  • Research and AI: undertaking research assignments using AI, online research tools and other information sources.
  • Candidate and market mapping: identifying and gathering information on senior executives.
  • Meeting support: attending selected video meetings where appropriate, initially to assist with note-taking and, importantly, to gain exposure to senior-level commercial discussions.
  • Diary and organisational support: providing a limited amount of calendar coordination and general organisational assistance.

This is not primarily an administrative role. The intention is to identify someone with the capability and ambition to take on increasing levels of commercial responsibility as they develop.

The Candidate

We are less concerned with extensive previous experience than with raw ability and potential but some sales / business development experience would be of interest although not essential.

We are particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate:

  • Strong intellectual ability and curiosity
  • Confidence and excellent communication skills
  • Natural relationship-building ability
  • High levels of organisation and attention to detail
  • Resilience and personal drive
  • Commercial instinct and an interest in business
  • The ability to learn exceptionally quickly
  • Confidence interacting with senior and highly accomplished individuals
  • An interest in global business markets – for example in energy, energy /commodity trading, shipping
  • Good exposure and understanding or research / AI tools

Candidates may be recent graduates or individuals with approximately one to three years of professional experience, including those seeking a high-quality part-time position.

We are particularly interested in people who are ambitious, highly motivated and comfortable operating around senior executives. Any examples of having interacted confidently with senior business leaders, entrepreneurs or high-net-worth individuals — whether through professional, academic, sporting, charitable or personal circumstances — would be useful, although they are not essential.

Training and Development

The successful individual will receive intensive commercial and business-development training plus AI tools training during their first month, followed by ongoing coaching and development.

Over time, objectives will increasingly focus on successfully executing a structured annual business-development and marketing strategy, including identifying opportunities, developing relationships and helping secure meetings with senior decision-makers.

For the right individual, this is undoutedly an exceptional platform from which to build a career in commercial leadership, business development, professional services and/or in leadership advisory.
