The Position
Are you an ambitious university graduate looking for a unique opportunity to work at the heart of major business and property development projects?
Athena Group is a family investment office specialising in property and business development. The two, current major operating companies are The Kings Group, the leading private health, fitness, and leisure group in Guernsey (see www.kings.gg) and Marina Health Club (see www.marina.gg).
This is a rare opportunity to join the family office of a leading entrepreneur to support the delivery of a major business transformation at Kings Premier Health Club –a new multi-million pool’s and spa facility, the best in the Channel Islands.
You will gain a first-handview of how a major development project is delivered — from construction and design through to financial forecasting, recruitment, supplier appointments, business development, and the creation of new membership and tariff models.
WHAT’S UNIQUE ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY:
1. You will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, working directly for an entrepreneur who has undertaken over £3bn of development / regeneration, with over 50 years’ personal experience as an owner of many businesses across various industry sectors to date.
2. You will gain exposure to how development projects and business transformation initiatives are structured and delivered, giving you insights into senior management decision-making processes.
3. You will have the opportunity to develop real-world skills well beyond typical entry-level roles, initially supporting the entrepreneur in an administrative capacity, with the opportunity for fast progression and increasing involvement in project delivery and management.
The Responsibilities
1. Strong administrative skills, including fast and accurate typing, document management (both paper and electronic), and organisation of project records and supplier documentation.
2. Excellent attention to detail, with a high level of accuracy in all tasks, including filing, preparing documents, and managing information.
3. Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
4. Confident user of standard office software (e.g. Microsoft Office suite, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook).
5. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, well-formatted documents and correspondence.
6. A proactive and flexible attitude — willing to take ownership of tasks, seek out information, and adapt to changing priorities.
7. Discretion and professionalism in handling confidential and sensitive information.
8. Right to work in Guernsey / UK
Experience / Qualifications / Education
1. A university degree in any discipline (2:1 or above) — this role suits a graduate seeking a first or second position in a fast and dynamic work environment, with the opportunity to quickly develop a wide range of transferable skills.
2. Evidence of strong administrative, organisational skills with demonstrated attention to detail (this could come from part-time work, internships, voluntary roles, university societies, or personal projects).
3. Evidence of operating in a fast-paced, high-performance environment where strong work ethic, commitment, initiative, and attention to detail are highly valued.
