The Position

Join Our Team

We are looking for a professional, organised and compassionate Medical Personal Assistant (PA) to join our busy GP Practice. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced healthcare environment and takes pride in delivering exceptional administrative support to both clinicians and patients.

As a Medical PA, you will play a vital role in supporting our GPs and clinical team, ensuring patients receive an efficient, high-quality service while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism.

The Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to GPs and the clinical team.
  • Manage patient communications by telephone, email, correspondence and face-to-face.
  • Record and relay messages accurately to the appropriate clinician or team member.
  • Process requests for home visits and prepare patient records where required.
  • Book, amend and manage appointments using the clinical computer system.
  • Update and maintain accurate electronic patient records, including demographic changes and medical information.
  • Process incoming post and electronic correspondence.
  • Support patient recall programmes, including smears, diabetes reviews and blood pressure monitoring.
  • Carry out data quality and data cleansing tasks as required.
  • Liaise with patients on behalf of clinicians in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Respond promptly to Practice emails and administrative tasks.
  • Assist the Reception team during busy periods or staff absence.
  • Work collaboratively across the Practice and, where required, support other surgeries within the Healthcare Group.
  • Complete mandatory training and actively participate in ongoing professional development.
  • Adhere to all Practice policies, procedures, GDPR legislation and strict patient confidentiality at all times.

  • Comfortable using computer systems and learning new software.

  • Professional, discreet and committed to maintaining patient confidentiality.

Essential Requirements

  • Good standard of education.
  • Previous experience in a role involving regular contact with the public.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and administrative abilities.
  • Good IT skills and confidence using electronic systems.

Desirable

  • Previous experience within a GP Practice or healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of electronic patient record systems.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and GDPR within a healthcare environment.
