The Position

Join Our Friendly Healthcare Team

We are looking for a welcoming, organised and professional Receptionist to join our busy medical practice. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people and providing exceptional customer service in a healthcare environment. 

Previous experience in administration, reception or healthcare is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided

As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a key role in creating a positive experience while supporting our GPs and wider clinical team.

The Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients and visitors in a friendly, professional and courteous manner.
  • Manage patient appointments, ensuring urgent cases are prioritised appropriately.
  • Check patients in for appointments and update registration details where required.
  • Keep patients informed of any delays and offer alternative appointment options where possible.
  • Answer telephone and face-to-face enquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Assist patients with registration forms and provide information about practice services.
  • Process repeat prescription requests and distribute prepared prescriptions.
  • Receive patient payments, issue receipts and maintain accurate billing records.
  • Balance the reception till and complete end-of-day reconciliation.
  • Assist with the registration of new patients.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy and welcoming reception and waiting area.
  • Support the Accounts Team with the collection of outstanding payments.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the practice.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and patient experience.
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with GDPR at all times.

Experience / Qualifications / Education

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a good standard of education.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is organised, reliable and able to work in a busy environment.
  • Can use initiative, common sense and sound judgement.
  • Enjoys working as part of a team.
  • Understands the importance of confidentiality.
  • Is confident using computers and willing to learn new systems.
