The Position

To administer the suppliers’ accounting function including payment of all the company’s suppliers Also, to provide assistance on statutory and non-statutory financial matters across the Finance and Procurement team. 

The Responsibilities

  • Ensure that suppliers’ accounts are maintained in accordance with both company policy and the suppliers’ terms of trading, to derive maximum benefit for the company and to assist with the administration of the company’s corporate purchase card facility.
  • Assist with the provision and analysis of related information to the Head of Finance and Procurement and managers at all levels within the organisation to enable them to make timely and effective operational decisions.
  • To provide assistance on statutory and non-statutory financial matters across the Finance and Procurement team.
  • To ensure the weekly payment run to supplier is undertaken and completed in a timely manner.
  • To assist with the monitoring of workloads and development of the less experienced members of the team.
  • To assist with the efficiency of the team and make recommendations for improvements.
  • To provide assistance on ad-hoc financial projects.
  • Be aware of and comply with local legislation, specifically related to Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities and Data Protection.

Experience / Qualifications / Education

·         In-depth knowledge of GE’s accounting systems in respect of suppliers

·         Sound knowledge of all of GE’s other accounting systems, with which the postholder becomes involved

·         Intermediate IT skills in Word and Excel

·         Ability to communicate effectively with all staff and suppliers

·         Ability to work to deadlines and cope with periods of pressurised working

·         Demonstrate a current knowledge of the functional structure of Guernsey Electricity, its mission, objectives, strategies and critical success factors
