The Position

To assist the Stock and Purchasing Manager in developing and maintaining the effective and efficient operation of a fast paced environment. Be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of staff within the warehouse function, ensuring that health, safety and standard operating procedures are embedded and adhered to. Apply a pro-active approach to department standards, efficiency and continuous improvement and extending this to key business partners. 

The Responsibilities

·         Supervising the team when checking goods in against delivery notes for accuracy and damage.

·         Ensuring the loading and unloading of trucks and vans is in line with health & safety procedures.

·         Maintaining accurate records and documenting all activities and discussions.

·         Notifying the Stock & Purchasing department of any damaged goods received and placing in the quarantine section, awaiting further instruction.

·         Physically moving stock from the Goods In area to the relevant department.

·         Ensuring yard and department tidiness/recycling cardboard is maintained.

·         Ensuring all stock movements are accurately recorded.

·         Implementing, maintaining and completing accurate records with the Stock & Purchasing Manager.

·         Owning the order picking process and coordinating with other departments.

·         Reviewing daily vehicle checks and ensuring vehicles are compliant with safety standards. 

·         Proactively making recommendations to the Stock & Purchasing Manager to help identify opportunities to update or improve procedures and standards.

·         Encourage, guide and develop a positive, collaborate and co-operative team to increase morale, well-being and overall department efficiency. 

·         Proactively monitor team performance to identify training needs.

·         Be responsible for the accurate recording of team members attendance.

·         Assist with delivering and recording department inductions, probation periods and performance development plans and reviews.
