GEL Network Services (GNS) HGV Excavation Driver/Operator

To assist the jointing team by operating excavation tools and machinery, and clearing the working area once the job has been complete. 

• Operate excavation tools and machinery and carry out some digging by hand.
• Drive vehicles and carry out daily maintenance of tools and minor plant and equipment.
• Ensure the safety of excavation sites both inside and outside hours. 
• Draw material from the stores, and makes minor purchases of materials as required facilitating work.
• Clear the working area once the job is complete and record time spent on tasks accurately.
• Be aware of and comply with local legislation, specifically related to Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities and Data Protection.
• Will be required to take part in a formal standby roster.
• Such other duties as may be allocated and interchange of duties as required.
• Demonstrates the core values and behaviours of Guernsey Electricity Limited. 

• Previous 'excavator use' experience preferred
• Must hold a Category C driving licence
• Excavation Assistants will normally receive on the job training and basic safety training
• The post holder must have an aptitude for practical work, and needs to be able and qualified to drive or handle heavy vehicles, forklifts, cranes, and special tools
• Demonstrate a current knowledge of the functional structure of Guernsey Electricity, its mission, objectives, strategies, and critical success factors
