Sark Shipping Boat Engineer

The Isle of Sark Shipping Company are recruiting a full time Boat Engineer to start as soon as possible. A varied role with the opportunity to work as part of a team onboard all 3 of our vessels, this position would suit someone who has worked in a trade and/or has a good working knowledge of diesel engines and/or has a maritime background. Candidates should be flexible, willing to learn, open to training opportunities and have a ‘can do’ attitude.

The successful candidate will be responsible for day to day and scheduled vessel maintenance, carrying out daily/weekly/monthly checks, reporting faults and liaising with contractors, service providers and suppliers. The candidate must also, with their fellow crew members, work to ensure the safe operation of the vessel and provision of safe, reliable, friendly and efficient passenger and freight shipping services to Sark. 

Essential - Valid Guernsey Right to Work, good working knowledge of diesel engines, physically fit, reliable and with good timekeeping. 

Desirable - Guernsey Boat Engineer Licence, experience working in a trade and/or maritime background, RYA Yachtmaster, Coastal Skipper or similar.

Training will be given if not already qualified as a Guernsey Boat Engineer.
