The Position

Goods-In Assistant

 Working within our Goods In department, we are looking for a Goods-In Assistant to join the team.

 The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring goods are received, checked, stored and dispatched accurately and efficiently, while supporting the wider Stock and Purchasing team with administrative tasks.

 Key duties and responsibilities include:

·         Receiving, checking and processing incoming goods and deliveries.

·         Checking goods against delivery notes and purchase orders.

·         Reporting any discrepancies, damages or issues to the relevant team members.

·         Loading, unloading and moving stock safely and efficiently.

·         Assisting with stock replenishment and stock movements.

·         Maintaining accurate records and assisting with general administrative duties.

·         Keeping the yard and department clean, tidy and organised.

·         Following health and safety procedures at all times.

 The ideal candidate will be organised, accurate and reliable, with a practical approach to work and the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.

Strong communication skills, attention to detail and a positive, professional attitude are essential.

Previous experience in a warehouse, goods-in or stock control environment would be advantageous, although full training will be provided.


The Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities 

  •  Checking goods in against delivery notes for accuracy and damage. 
  •  Loading and unloading trucks and vans with a forklift truck in line with health & safety procedures. 
  • Maintaining accurate records and documenting all activities and discussions.  
  •  Physically moving stock from the Goods In area to the relevant department. 
  •  Maintaining warehouse and department tidiness/recycling where possible. 
  •  Ensuring all stock movements are accurately recorded. 
  • Proactively making recommendations to the Supervisor to help identify opportunities to update or improve 
  • procedures and standards. 
  •  Complete any other reasonable duties as directed by your line manager to aid business / department success. 
  •  Adhere to the Group Policies and Procedures. 
  • Adhere to the Group Health and Safety Policy. 
  •  Adheres to and delivers the Group Values in all aspects of the role. 

Experience / Qualifications / Education

 Essentials Skills and Knowledge 

  • Holds a valid forklift truck license or is willing to undertake training to obtain license. 
  •  Attention to detail with a focus on accuracy. 
  • Works in a professional and courteous manner. 
  • Organised with attention to detail. 
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills.  
  • Ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines. 
  •  Computer literate 

Desirable Skills and Knowledge 

  •  Experience in a similar role.
