The Position
We are looking for a motivated and committed individual who shares our company values of caring, working together and excellence. Our reputation has been built on the service we provide to our customers and the role of a driver plays a pivotal part.
The key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
· Loading, transporting, and delivering items to customers or businesses in a safe, timely manner.
· Reviewing orders before and after delivery to ensure that orders are complete, the charges are correct, and the customer is satisfied.
· Providing excellent customer service, answering questions and queries.
Applicants should have good communication and problem solving skills, be professional and courteous and be able to work within a team and individually. Basic computer skills are also required to keep track of order progress.
Applicants must hold a current Category C driving license. Hi-ab certification would also be desirable, although we are willing to offer training. A good knowledge of Guernsey roads is also beneficial.
The Responsibilities
- Carrying out daily checks to ensure that vehicles are clean, safe to drive and ensure records are maintained.
- Being compliant with the traffic laws and maintaining a safe driving record
- Maintaining good health to be medically fit to drive; undertaking medicals when required and advising the company of any prescribed medication, that may impact the ability to do the job.
- Reviewing orders scheduled for delivery, ensuring orders are complete and that the customer is satisfied.
- Assisting and supervising the loading of goods to be delivered in a safe, efficient manner.
- Operating equipment and machines whilst reducing the risk of vehicle overloading.
- Using handheld devices correctly to evidence proof of delivery.
- Assisting with the unloading of goods from vehicles on site.
- Providing excellent customer service, providing prompt service and answering customer questions.
- Undergoing training as and when required by the business.
- Providing assistance to other part of the Group where required.
Experience / Qualifications / Education
| Essentials Skills and Knowledge
- Is aged at least 21 years to comply with HIAB and insurance requirements.
- Holds a full clean driving license with Category C or willingness to undergo training to obtain it.
- Works with a safety first approach at all times.
- Maintains customer confidentiality at all times.
- Understands and delivers excellent customer service practices.
- Excellent verbal, written communication and listening skills.
- Ability to work within a team and individually.
- Works in a professional and courteous manner.
- Organised with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
