The Position
Assistant – Timber & Boards
We are looking for an individual to provide excellent customer service by positively contributing to ensuring a clean, tidy and efficient department and maintaining Health and Safety standards are adhered to at all times.
In this role you will need to have excellent sales and customer service experience along with excellent verbal, written communication and listening skills. You will have a valid forklift truck licence or be willing to complete training to obtain a valid licence. You will be required to possess basic computer skills and be highly organised.
Any previous experience in a similar role would be advantageous.

The Responsibilities
| Key Responsibilities
• Working within a small team to build and maintain strong customer relationships, driving sales and seeking new business opportunities with new and existing customers.
• Assisting with the day-to-day operations in the department both over the phone and in person.
• Greeting customers, offering assistance, recommending products, offers and referring to experts when required.
• Ensuring excellent customers service levels are always achieved, in person and over the phone, building long term relationships and reputation.
• Providing customers with product information by staying informed on the latest industry trends.
• Processing orders and working with other departments to schedule deliveries.
• Researching required information using available resources.
• With the use of a Forklift truck – re-stock the department and move stock to other areas of the business.
• Working with a strong team ethos to ensure an efficient, productive and organised department is maintained.
• Working collaboratively to complete the required daily duties.
• Handling and resolving basic complaints and escalating if necessary.
• Complete any other reasonable duties as directed by the Supervisor or Manager to aid business / department success.
• Assist the department with regular sequential stock counting.
• Adhere to Group Policies and Procedures.
• Adhere to the Group Health and Safety Policy.
• Adheres to and delivers the Group Values in all aspects of the role.
Experience / Qualifications / Education
Essential Skills and Knowledge
• Sales and customer service experience.
• Understands and adheres to client confidentiality.
• Holds a valid Forklift truck licence or is willing to complete training to obtain a valid licence.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritise and work well under pressure.
• Excellent verbal, written communication and listening skills.
• Ability to work within a team and collaboratively across departments.
• Good IT skills and ability to adapt to bespoke software.
• Organised with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Works in a professional manner in all aspects of the role.
• Basic commercial awareness.
Desirable Skills and Knowledge
• Previous experience in a similar role
• Knowledge of timber products.
