The Position
Are you looking for flexible hospitality & events work in a premium environment & location?
We are recruiting Front of House Staff to support our team in the 1857 Bar & Restaurant for events & Restaurant service hours where required.
The 1857 Restaurant & Baris a premier events destination with wellness-led dining using homemade, unprocessed, locally-sourced foods throughout the week and weekends.
This is a no-fixed-hours role, ideal for individuals looking to pick up shifts around other commitments.
The Responsibilities
1. To deliver exceptional customer service, welcoming guests and ensuring a positive experience throughout their visit.
2. Take and process food and beverage orders accurately using EPOS systems, communicating clearly with the kitchen.
3. Prepare and serve a range of hot and cold beverages, including alcoholic drinks, in line with company standards and licensing regulations.
4. Handle cash and card payments efficiently.
5. Support sales through upselling, product knowledge, and promotion of menu items and offers.
6. Assist in the planning, setup, and delivery of events hosted at 1857, ensuring seamless service, high guest satisfaction, and adherence to operational standards.
7. Maintain cleanliness, presentation, and organisation across all front-of-house and bar areas, including opening and closing procedures, complying with Company policies and all relevant Guernsey regulations including licensing laws, food safety (HACCP), health and safety, COSHH, and fire regulations.
8. Verify customer identification in line with legal requirements.
9. Restock and manage bar supplies, ensuring all equipment is clean, operational, and safe to use.
Experience / Qualifications / Education
1. Experience in a customer-facing role within a bar, restaurant, or hospitality environment.
2. Experience using EPOS systems and handling cash and card transactions.
3. Knowledge of food and beverage service standards, licensing, food hygiene, health and safety regulations.
4. Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
5. Experience in upselling and supporting sales initiatives is advantageous.
6. Team player with a proactive approach and high attention to detail.
