Kitchen Porter & Cleaner

We are currently undertaking an exciting business transformation program, including the construction of a new multi-million-pound pool’s and spa (and other facilities)— set to be the finest in the Channel Islands. As part of this next phase of growth, we are seeking an experienced and qualified Kitchen Porter & Cleaner to join our team. 
 
 This role is essential in supporting both the day-to-day operation of 1857 Bar & Restaurant and the presentation of Kings Premier Health Club. You will help maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation across the kitchen, restaurant, health club, spa, changing rooms, and all public areas, ensuring members and guests enjoy a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

Working closely with the Head Chef, management team, and wider operations team, you will support kitchen operations through pot wash, cleaning, deliveries, and basic food preparation, whilst also maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of the wider club facilities

This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys working as part of a team, and understands the importance of maintaining exceptional standards behind the scenes to support an outstanding member and guest experience.

·         Maintain exceptional cleanliness and presentation standards throughout 1857 Bar & Restaurant, the kitchen, health club, spa, changing rooms, studios, and all public areas.

·         Wash, sanitise, and store crockery, cutlery, glassware, cookware, kitchen utensils, and equipment to support efficient kitchen operations.

·         Support the kitchen team with basic food preparation, kitchen organisation, and receiving deliveries.

·         Complete all daily, weekly, and periodic cleaning schedules across the restaurant, kitchen, and club facilities.

·         Ensure all waste is disposed of correctly, recycling procedures are followed, and bin storage areas remain clean and organised.

·         Maintain cleaning equipment, chemicals, and materials in accordance with COSHH regulations and manufacturer guidelines.

·         Operate in full compliance with HACCP, food hygiene legislation, Health & Safety, COSHH, and company procedures.

·         Report maintenance issues, equipment faults, and health & safety concerns promptly to the management team.

·         Support the successful delivery of restaurant service, weddings, private functions, corporate hospitality, and club events by maintaining clean, safe, and organised working environments.

·         Work flexibly across shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and special events, in line with business requirements.

·         Previous experience in cleaning, kitchen porter, housekeeping, or hospitality is desirable but not essential.

·         A strong work ethic with excellent attention to detail and high personal standards.

·         Knowledge of food hygiene, COSHH, and Health & Safety procedures is advantageous.

·         Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.

·         Positive attitude, reliability, and excellent teamwork skills.

·         Willingness to learn and support different operational departments.

·         Food Hygiene qualification is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
