The Position

Effective delivery of youth work services

• Assist in delivering a range of youth work services aligned with our strategy and Service Level 

Agreements 

• Involvement in direct youth work practice 

• Ensure adherence to policies, reviews and feedback 

• Follow the occupational standards of youth work in all our settings

• Be ambitious for young people

• Assist the Head of Youth Engagement in creating and maintaining the Youth Commission’s culture in the team 

• Provide a safe and supportive line management structure for all staff including supervision 

• Motivate the team to provide child centred services of a high standard 

• Role model and coach others in order to develop each individual and the team’s capability in Youth 

Work practice and related skills

• Plan and resource Playscheme 

• Maintain all team members awareness of relevant legislation and areas of practice development to 

support their impact on children and families

• Be ambitious for young people

• Promote the Youth Commission’s vision and values to partners and the community 

• Be true to our values and empower the team to demonstrate these at every opportunity 

Embed our services in the community 

• Build trusting relationships with key partners (young people, families, schools, social care, voluntary 

sector etc)

• Ensure our services are clearly communicated and the community understand our offer of support 

• Enable children and young peoples’ active involvement in the planning and evaluation of delivery of 

services by championing Participation to gain their contribution in ways appropriate to their age and 

experience

Experience / Qualifications / Education

Skills and qualities 

• Passion for delivering high quality youth work services to young people 

• Interest in all areas of youth work 

• Desire to facilitate a highly effective team of youth workers 

• Organised, innovative and versatile

• Committed to young people’s development

• Proud to work in the voluntary sector 

• Youth work qualification (or willingness to work toward)
