The Position
Purpose of the job
Working at Alderney's leading builders' merchant and supplier of homewares, gardening supplies and fuel. Supporting the Showroom Supervisor and working within the team to promote and sell products. Driven with a passion for what they do and works in a professional & calm manner.
The Responsibilities
Type of job
· Working within a small team to build and maintain profitable customer relationships, driving sales, and seeking new business opportunities with new and existing customers
· Assisting with the day-to-day operations in the showroom department both over the phone and in person
· Greeting customers and offering assistance, recommending products & offers and referring to experts when required
· Ensuring all training needs are met for new employees such as sales policies, procedures, and best practices
· Working to schedules and work assigned by the supervisor
· Ensuring excellent customers service levels are always achieved, on a day to day basis, in person and over the phone, building long term relationships
· Handling and resolving basic complaints or issues
· Providing customers with product information by staying informed on the latest industry trends
· Processing orders and working with other departments to schedule delivery and redelivery
· Researching required information using available resources
· Ensuring procedures included within the Group Health & Safety Policy are always adhered to
· Escalating critical issues to management and other duties as assigned
Experience / Qualifications / Education
Essential skills & knowledge
The postholder must, at all times, hold the required documentation to live and work in Alderney.
· Sales and customer service experience or ability and willingness to learn
· Ability to multi-task, prioritise and work well under pressure
· Excellent verbal, written communication and listening skills
· Basic commercial awareness
· Work in a professional manner
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general IT literacy
· Organised with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

Exclusivity
· 39 hours per week
· Attendance required for a minimum of 1 Saturday a month
