The Position

Elizabeth College is seeking an enthusiastic and creative individual to join our 3D Design Department to provide technical and administration support.  The post-holder should be hard-working, flexible and a good team-player.

 This is a full-time role, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday during term-time plus INSET (i.e. 39 weeks) from Monday to Friday, 8.00 am - 4.20 pm, with a 20 minute morning break and 1 hour for lunch.  A job share would be considered for the right applicants.

The Responsibilities

Typical duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

Main Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Order, materials from suppliers (both on island and on-line), ensuring best price at all times.
  • Order, organise and ensure sufficient consumables are held by the Department for project use and general use.
  • Keep accurate financial records, particularly of student expenditure at GCSE, AS and A level and use this detail to ensure that parents are correctly billed for additional costs in a timely manner.
  • To be familiar with the operation of all departmental machinery, including IT based CAD/CAM equipment and to be able to support staff and pupils in its use.  (Training will be provided if required).
  • Carry out regular planned maintenance of all departmental machinery and equipment where required so as to ensure accurate and safe working in conjunction with the Maintenance Manager.
  • Carry out, or arrange through the Maintenance Manager, defect rectification on machinery, equipment, power and hand tools as necessary.
  • Liaise with Reprographics for the photocopying of worksheets, hand-outs and all Departmental documentation as and when required.
  • Prepare sufficient materials for use by students in all year groups.
  • Liaise with the Head of Department with regards to building and classroom defects and to report them to the Maintenance Manager using a defect report form.
  • Maintain the 3D Design Technician’s workshop, all classrooms and studio spaces to ensure they are clean and safe working environments.
  • Have a clear understanding of the School’s and Department’s Health and Safety Policy and to ensure it is rigorously adhered to and that any H&S issues are followed up and reported.
  • To hold and maintain a full car driving licence to source supplies locally.
  • Provide assistance with displays and exhibitions in 3D Design.  In addition, the Technician (if time is available after 3D Design related work is completed and in consultation with the HoD) may assist with other departments’ requests for practical assistance. 

Experience / Qualifications / Education

Essential requirements:

  • Holder of a valid driving licence
  • Experience of working in a creative environment 
  • Experience of using power and hand tools and machinery 
  • Fully proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word 

Desirable requirements:

  • Creative qualification e.g. HNC/HND in Art & Design, or equivalent 
  • Experience of using CAD/CAM equipment 
  • Experience of working in an educational setting
