The Position

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Neuro Physiotherapy Team at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital.

This is a part time position,  30 hours per week,  working Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8.30am to 4.30pm. The working pattern is to be confirmed.

The successful candidate will work as an integral member of the physiotherapy team & undertake specific skilled support work to aid rehabilitation of patients, accepting patients referred by the physiotherapists and manage a caseload to treat, according to set protocols

The Responsibilities

  •  To participate in and contribute to the physiotherapists’ assessment and treatment planning of patients.
  • To complete delegated physiotherapy interventions in a variety of settings including wards, therapy treatment areas and community settings. This includes exercise programmes, mobility practice and practising other activities of daily living.
  • Participate in the rota for Orthopaedic weekend cover.
  • To liaise with physiotherapists as necessary regarding patients therapeutic interventions, highlighting any variations to expected outcomes from the treatment programmes. 
  • To monitor the patients progress and be able to progress the patients treatment within established protocols and guidelines, or in discussion with the physiotherapist. 
  • To be skilled in the safe use of a broad range of manual handling equipment, exercise equipment and therapeutic handling skills. 
  • To liaise with other members of the multi-disciplinary team on behalf of the physiotherapist regarding a patients therapy. 
  • Under the direction of the physiotherapists be responsible for liaising with patients, relatives, carers, equipment services, social and health care professionals and other voluntary organisations and statutory bodies.  
  • To demonstrate evidence and theoretical knowledge of clinical and technical procedures with guidance. 
  • To appropriately measure, supply and adapt mobility aids and equipment once trained to do so. 
  • To assist in identifying appropriate equipment and adaptations required in patients own homes. 
  • To organise and prioritise own delegated workload, under supervision of qualified staff, using effective time management skills, responding flexibly to changing priorities. 
  • Report on stock levels and equipment needs as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of working environment.
  • Create, maintain, and update patient records and reports according to professional standards and GTG policy.
  • Update and maintain GTG PPS system.
  • Cross-cover other clinical areas when service needs demand.
  • Participate in induction (including buddy system) and training of new staff when required.


Experience / Qualifications / Education

Education and experience:

  • Good general education 
  • Good IT Skills and administration skills, especially in the use of all MS Office applications 
  •  Valid driving licence   
  • Experience in dealing with members of the public   
  • NVQ level 1 or equivalent in Health and Social Care (desirable)
  • Experience working in Health Care environment (desirable)
