The Position
We have exciting opportunities to grow our Mill and EcoHomes team, manufacturing bespoke eco joists, timber frames and special timber sections.
Perhaps you are already skilled in following technical drawings and templates, using computer-aided design software, using specialist wood cutting machinery or similar, and can multi-task and work well under pressure to produce exceptional products for our customers and looking for a fresh challenge.
Maybe you’d love to work with natural materials and want to start a career and learn how to do all the above, crafting your skills in a practical and friendly environment from those with decades of experience.
Either way you will need to be able to work in a team and have good communications skills. You will also require good IT skills to learn and operate specialist machinery and for sales and stock purposes.
The Responsibilities
· Be able and confident to decipher and follow technical drawings and templates.
· Be able and confident to select the correct timber for the task and calculate the quantity needed.
· Use computer-aided design/manufacturing (CAD/CAM) or computer numerically control (CNC) software.
· Prepare, and operate woodworking machinery.
· Assemble precut wooden parts to build trusses and similar supports or wall sections.
· Move specified precut parts to work area and position parts in jig by hand or using the overhead winch.
· Place metal reinforcement plates over connecting joints and connects parts at joints, using a hammer, screwdriver,
or pneumatic staple gun.
· Verifying dimensions of precut parts and accuracy of assembly, using ruler and gauges.
· Maintain the machinery to a high standard, ensuring health and safety standards are applied.
· Meet the schedules and tasks assigned by the Manager.
· Process and prioritise orders in a timely manner.
· Work with and liaise with other departments to schedule task completion, delivery and redelivery.
· Build knowledge on all product ranges, referring customers to expert staff for specialist attention as appropriate.
· Assist and build strong relationships with team members, decorators, architects, and constructors.
· Research and follow industry evolution, best practices, and any other required information.
· Escalating critical issues to management.
· Undertake training as and when required by the business.
· Assist the department with regular sequential stock counting and annual stock count.
· Assisting with other day-to-day operations of the Mill and EcoHomes.
· Support the Timber and Boards team when required.
· Complete any other reasonable duties as required by the Manager to support department and business success.
· Adhere to Group Policies and Procedures.

· Adheres to and delivers the Group Values in all aspects of the role.
Experience / Qualifications / Education
· Previous experience with cutting machinery or similar
· Organised with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
· Ability to multi-task, prioritise and work well under pressure.
· Good interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively.
· Ability to work within a small team.
· At all times works in a professional and courteous manner.
· Understands and adheres to strict confidentiality of business and customers information.
