Grooming/Shop Assistant

Bather/shop assistant required for prep work of dogs ready for grooming and the day to day duties that go into keeping a busy salon running smoothly.

This is a small but busy salon, including a retail area and daycare, looking for someone to work Wednesday to Saturday.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Assist groomer.

Perform basic grooming services including brushing, bathing and conditioning of pets.

Greet clients and bring grooming animals to and from the grooming area during check-in and check-out.

Walk and exercise dogs as needed.

Maintain the salon and equipment by performing tasks including, but not limited to, sweeping/mopping floors, wiping counters, cleaning cages and checking equipment and supplies.

Assist with generating and developing the grooming business by utilising periods of time when not grooming pets to assist with clerical duties.

Assist the public with inquiries pertaining to grooming and other general information.

Skills and Abilities

Demonstrate a genuine interest in the well-being of pets in our care. Dogs of all sizes are welcomed in the salon and cats are regularly groomed also.

Effectively communicate in the English language both in writing and orally.

Great attention to detail and time management.

Regularly stand for extended periods.

Frequently walk, stoop, kneel or crouch and lift up to 25kilos.

Provide excellent customer service.

Present a professional appearance and demeanour at all times.

Accurately process paperwork and maintain an efficient records system.
