Solar Installation Technician

Work Involved: The Solar Installer role is to install solar panels, batteries, and ancillary equipment and to undertake basic roof and termination wiring and required infrastructure, such as cabling. The Solar Technician undertakes the more technical and deeper electrical requirements of the installation, testing and commissioning. Including assembly of Distribution Boards and their testing, plus setting up the digital aspects of communications to solar and battery equipment.

Roofing Work: Marking solar layouts on roofs, ground mounts, walls, and other structures; removing tiles or slates; stripping roofing when needed. Panel & Cabling: Mounting Panels; Creating wiring harnesses and channels on roofs; attaching rails to hooks and brackets. Infrastructure: Running power and digital cables across roofs and buildings; fitting trunking or conduit. Electrical Work: Designing and wiring distribution boards; inspecting, testing, and certifying electrical systems. Digital Work: Setting up ICT systems for cloud connections, including wired/wireless access points. Being Self-Responsible: Managing sub-contractors, liaising with customers and site workers, and reporting to the project manager. 

Ideally this will suit an experienced solar technician or a qualified electrician that wishes to further their career in the highly motivating and challenging world of renewable energy. Knowledge or qualification in 18th Edition Electrical Regulations, or willingness to qualify, advantageous. Clean licence essential. Ability to work at heights a perquisite. Good customer relationship skills imperative.
