The Position
Looking for a new adventure in 2025 and want to make a difference in your community?
Our Support Worker will provide advocacy, support and guidance to anyone who is experiencing homelessness or housing problems. As well as direct work with our clients, our Support Worker will help design and develop services to end homelessness in Guernsey.
The Responsibilities
Service Delivery
- Deliver direct support to individuals in the community using a person-centred approach.
- Ensure that the At Home in Guernsey services are needs driven providing the greatest impact to individuals lives in our community.
- Ensure individuals are supported and adequately safeguarded in accordance with our policies and procedures.
Raising awareness
- Act as an ambassador for the organisation true to the charity’s vision and values.
- Responsible for promoting At Home in Guernsey to all stakeholders in the community ensuring that individuals and the professionals supporting them are aware of our support.
- Responsible for maintaining key relationships as appropriate with partner agencies and the wider community.
Operations
- Responsible for data collection, collation and impact-assessment to provide regular impact reports.
- Ensure compliance At Home in Guernsey’s policies and procedures.
- Contribute to and participate in meetings and planning as required.
Experience / Qualifications / Education
- Non-judgemental, empathetic and inclusive
- Passionate about making a difference to individuals’ lives
- A belief that everyone deserves a safe place to call home
- Experience of working or volunteering with people, ideally in health or social care, criminal justice or charitable sector
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to mediate
- Outstanding organisational skills
- Good IT skills
- Engaging, proactive and a self-starter in their work

- It is envisaged this will be a full-time role and whilst hours will be flexible and self-managed, the ideal candidate will need to use their initiative and demonstrate commitment to the overall objectives of the charity.
