The Position

We are looking for a Nursery Practitioner to join our small, welcoming team, who value the importance of supporting each other to grow and flourish in a rewarding career. 

Willow is a purpose-built nursery, with carefully considered equipment and resources, to create a calm, cosy atmosphere. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to early education, valuing the role of children's interests, individual expression, natural resources, joyful interactions, community and the outdoors to create strong foundations for a lifetime of learning. 

The candidate should have a fun, positive attitude, using their initiative and problem-solving skills to; deliver engaging activities, maintain a safe, stimulating environment, keep records and support the team in the smooth running of the daily routine. The ideal individual will be organised, kind, nurturing, enthusiastic and adaptable, understanding the importance of building positive relationships, continuing professional development and placing the unique child at the centre. 

The Responsibilities

Care and Education

- Create joyful interactions with the children, engaging in their play and learning experiences.

- Attend to the individual care needs of the children

- Create and deliver interesting and varied activities based on the child's unique interests and needs in an enquiry based curriculum

- Record and document care and learning, using this information for individualised planning.

- Work in collaboration with parents/guardians and other professionals

Safe and Stimulating Environment

- Maintain a high quality, stimulating, inviting environment that caters to the unique child's needs

- Maintain high standards of safety and hygiene, protecting the safety and well-being of the children.

- Adhere to and Implement the Nursery Policies and Procedures, the Early Years Quality Standards and Early Years Foundation Stage Frameworks.

- Understand and act on safeguarding responsibilities.

Proactive and Supportive Team Member

- Active, supportive team member, ensuring the smooth running of the daily routine

- Keyworker responsibilities including undertaking observations and assessments.

- Active engagement in continuing professional development and career progression opportunities.

Experience / Qualifications / Education

- Experience of working with children 

- Relevant childcare qualification, Level 3 or above (Unqualified candidates will be considered but must be willing to gain a childcare qualification)

- GCSE English Grade C + or equivalent (or willingness to achieve qualification)

- Right to Work (Guernsey)

- Valid Guernsey Housing Licence
