The Position

Hours of Work: 30 hours per week (6 hours per day, 5 days per week between Monday and Sunday). May be increased.

Length of Contract: Permanent

Notice Required: One month

Start date: Ideally 1 October

Place of work: Friends of Citizens Advice Charity Shop, Mont Arrive, St Peter Port

The Friends of Citizens Advice Charity shop’s sole purpose is to raise funds to maintain Citizens Advice in Guernsey. It does this by taking donations ( particularly of good furniture) to sell to the community. 


JOB SUMMARY

To be responsible for the day-to-day running of the charity shop and manage affairs including managing volunteers and dealing with donations. To report regularly to and be accountable to the Board of Friends of Citizens Advice.


The Responsibilities


  • To manage the day to day running of the shop.
  • To ensure the shop is staffed adequately at all times
  • To recruit volunteers, and manage and train volunteers.
  • To optimise sales and meet sales targets,
  • To ensure the shop is competing effectively with local competitors.
  • To ensure the highest possible resale value of donated stock. 
  • To maintain a social media presence and actively merchandise online,
  • To manage donations and effective stock management,
  • To maintain a high quality presentation in shop.
  • To enforce health and safety procedures
  • To report to the Board regularly 

Experience / Qualifications / Education

Previous managerial or retail experience would be ideal

Excellent organisational skills

Excellent people skills
