The Position
Bar Bar Jay is one of Guernsey's most unique sports bars, combining premium live sport, gaming and a welcoming community atmosphere.
We're looking for one exceptional Lead Bartender to become a trusted part of our team. This is far more than serving drinks - we're looking for someone who takes pride in creating a fantastic customer experience, enjoys building relationships with regulars and is happy taking responsibility for running the bar during their shifts.
You'll work closely with the owners, Jamie and Coralie, who remain actively involved in the business, giving you the support to succeed while trusting you to take ownership of the day-to-day operation of the bar.

The Responsibilities
- Lead the bar during your shifts, ensuring excellent customer service at all times.
- Prepare and serve food & drinks efficiently and consistently.
- Welcome customers and help create a friendly, community atmosphere.
- Complete opening and closing procedures.
- Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness throughout the venue.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages.
- Ensure licensing laws and company procedures are followed.
- Take pride in the appearance, presentation and smooth running of the bar.
- Work closely with the owners to continually improve the customer experience.
Typical working patterns:
- Tuesday–Thursday: 4:00pm – 11:00pm
- Friday: 4:00pm – 12:00am
- Saturday: 12:00pm – 6:00pm
- Occasional Sunday shifts: 12:00pm – 8:00pm (as required)
Core hours are provided each week, with occasional flexibility to support major sporting events and holiday cover.
Experience / Qualifications / Education
Essential
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- A reliable, professional and positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- High standards of cleanliness and organisation.
- Eligibility to work in Guernsey.
Desirable
- Previous experience working in a bar, pub, restaurant or hospitality environment.
- Experience opening and closing licensed premises.
- Previous supervisory or senior bar experience.
- Knowledge of live sport.
