The Position
Purpose: To effectively lead and manage, alongside audit managers, the resource needs of the audit practice across Guernsey and Jersey, involving but not limited to managing and monitoring staff utilisation and leave (holiday, study, sickness etc.), resource/recruitment requirements and ad hoc audit support tasks.
To effectively manage a team of audit support staff in Guernsey assisting the audit practice in Guernsey with various audit support tasks.
The Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure effective management and delivery of audit resourcing needs, including booking on a day-to-day basis to ensure accuracy, e.g. individuals on sick leave, study leave and/or training, adjusting the timing of jobs, and assigning individuals on to new jobs.
- Ensure effective management of an audit support team in Guernsey which assists the audit practice in Guernsey with various audit support tasks.
- Take responsibility for the performance management of the audit support team in Guernsey, ensuring an effective two-way process, providing constructive feedback, seeking feedback and identifying training requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve the planning and resource management processes, and present proposals to audit engagement leaders.
- Review budgets for client engagements against pre-approved criteria before including in Retain.
- Resolve resource clashes timeously and proactively reallocate staff as appropriate to maximise resource opportunities.
- Attend the weekly management meetings and report on any resourcing issues, resolve conflicts, plan resources, monitor overbooked employees etc.
- Be the main point of contact to assist with queries and help manage resourcing-related issues.
- Monitor planned vs billed time every week and ensure accuracy with resource bookings, with the assistance of the audit managers.
- Manage unbilled time, providing frequent updates to audit engagement leaders.
- Liaise with the finance team regarding ad hoc requests.
- Provide key input to recruitment needs and actively participate in the recruitment process.
- Monitor timesheet compliance in line with Company policy.
- Assist audit engagement leaders in building and delivering robust forecasts for resource planning to deliver against targets.
- Identify resource needs on an ongoing basis to support the People & Culture team with recruitment.
- Manage multiple resource requests, engaging with the related audit managers to resolve any conflicts timeously.
- Support the audit engagement leaders in identifying inefficiencies in the audit operations and develop and implement new processes to improve efficiency.
- Ensure effective management of secondees, being the main point of contact for them regarding any non-audit related queries and issues.
- Compare the secondees’ timesheets with the time charges summary received from the secondary firm.
- Deliver training on identified topics to impart knowledge and ensure the development of the team.
- Ensure the firm’s Resource Software is effectively implemented and used.
- Act as an ambassador of the firm, building relationships and promoting the firm at every opportunity to facilitate new business opportunities.
- Take responsibility for providing senior management level support to audit engagement leaders and audit managers and driving effective communication between the management team and staff.

Experience / Qualifications / Education
- Possesses a relevant professional qualification coupled with at least 3 years of project and resource management experience.
- Experience working with Retain as a resourcing system would be beneficial.
