The Position

About Us: Queens Road Medical Practice is a dedicated general medical practice committed to providing high-quality healthcare services to our community. Our team values compassion, integrity, and excellence in patient care.

Telephonists are the first point of contact that people have with the Practice. They are responsible for answering incoming calls via the switchboard and dealing with them quickly, efficiently and appropriately.

Hours: Tuesday - Friday 2pm - 6pm


The Responsibilities

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • To promote and foster a positive, collaborative and inclusive environment that seeks to develop teamwork, new ideas and open communication.
  • Participate fully in the ‘Practice Improvement Plan’.
  • Maintain the smooth operation of the switchboard.
  • Ensure patients are dealt with in a prompt and efficient manner.
  • Ensure messages are delivered promptly to staff where applicable (messages are not left by patients).
  • Engage in H&S and Risk Management training and remain aware of requirements whilst carrying out any role within the organisation.
  • Any other tasks as reasonably required. 


Experience / Qualifications / Education

Qualifications:

  • GCSE Maths and English (C or above).


Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good patient relation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficient in or ability to be proficient in EVO, Mitel and Microsoft Office.
  • Previous administration, switchboard and customer service experience preferred but not essential.
  • Confident and professional telephone manner.
  • High level of accuracy.
  • Basic typing skills.
  • Basic medical knowledge and understanding advantageous.  
  • Flexible.
  • Ability to prioritise workload. 
  • Confidentiality and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Good team player.
