The Responsibilities

• Devising and delivering, with the assistance of the Directors, a strategy for the company that fits with the overall Group strategies and requirements.
• Leading by example, modelling appropriate and desired behaviours across all teams at all times.
• Managing the day-to-day trading by reviewing supply & demand using the utilisation figures for the equipment usage and availability for hire.
• Managing the profit and loss of the business along with controlling costs and monitoring budgets.
• Assessing the equipment within our fleet to ensure it is suitable for the market space we operate and trade in.
• Ensuring all equipment is inspected on return and, through the workshop, is serviced, repaired and maintained appropriately and in a timely manner.
• Ensuring excellent customer service levels are always achieved by the team, on a day-to-day basis, in person and over the phone, building long term relationships.
• Managing the team to ensure pro-activity in promoting the business and services via telephone and site visits  to build and maintain new and existing profitable customer relationships, driving sales and achieving success by meeting budgeted profit targets.
• Implementing and maintaining effective customer service procedures, policies, and standards.
• Remaining up to date with the latest industry techniques and methods, researching required product information using available resources and working with suppliers and other departments to develop sales
• Identifying opportunities to update or improve sales procedures and making recommendations to do so.
• Organising and overseeing the schedules and work of assigned staff.
• Assuming responsibility for the team’s ongoing training and development needs in terms of knowledge, skills and contribution to the business
• Ensuring all training needs are met for new employees such as sales policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Adopting and delivering relevant people management good practice including performance reviews, development plans, succession planning and retention.
• Owning the recruitment process and developing existing members of the department, including full induction.
• Handling and resolving complaints.
• Working closely with the support functions within the group on any People, I.T. Marketing and Finance matters.
• Escalating critical issues as required.
• Complete any other reasonable duties as directed by your line manager to aid business / department success.
• Adhere to Group Policies and Procedures.
• Adhere to the Group Health and Safety Policy.
• Adheres to and delivers the Group Values in all aspects of the role.


Experience / Qualifications / Education

·         Proven experience and success in sales and customer service experience.

·         Previous experience in people leadership and management.

·         Able to motivate and inspire a team to achieve its tasks to a high standard on a daily basis.

·         Able to multi-task, prioritise and work well under pressure.

·         Organised with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

·         Commercial awareness and ability to read sales figures and deliver on margin targets.

·         Excellent verbal, written communication and listening skills.

·         Able to work as part of a team, leading and influencing at all levels.

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office and customer service software.

·         Ability to resolve customer complaints and issues while maintaining a professional and calm demeanour.
