Practice Nurse: To support GPs in the delivery of high-quality primary care nursing services to the practice population. To provide patient centred nursing care and promote healthy lifestyles through an evidence based, holistic approach. The role involves assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating care, supporting disease prevention and health promotion initiatives, and contributing to the overall well-being of patients within the practice.

Involved in most aspects of patient care including 

• Obtaining blood samples
• Electrocardiograms
• Minor and complex wound management
• Travel health and vaccinations
• Child immunisations
• Cervical screening
• Minor operations
• Management of diabetes
• Ear care
• Respiratory screening – asthma and COPD
• All aspects of health promotion
• Recognise and work within own competence and professional code of conduct 
• Produce accurate, contemporaneous and complete records of patient consultation
• Prioritise, organise and manage own workload
• Deliver evidence-based care
• Maintain a safe clean and tidy working environment
• Meet requirements for revalidation
• To work towards a ‘Greener Practice’ and sustainability

• Registered General Practice Nurse (registered with the NMC)
• Previous experience in a general/acute nurse setting.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience
• Strong clinical skills and ability to work independently
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Interest and knowledge in health promotion and education
• Experience in minor and complex wound care
• Routine health screening 
• Long-Term condition management
• Ability to prioritise tasks and manage a busy workload
• Compassion, empathy and a patient centred approach
