The Position

At the Youth Commission our vision is empowering youth and shaping futures, enabling young people to be inspired and prepared for the future they dream of…

Navigators is a project within the Youth Commission that offers support and advice for families that are navigating their cancer or other serious illness journey. All adults want to protect children from the pain of knowing that someone they care about is ill and it can be hard knowing what to say and how to include and support children and young people. As a Navigator support worker you will receive training to assist your work with parents and carers so that they feel confident to talk about a parental illness with their children so that they understand the illness and feel included in what is happening to their family.

The successful candidate will need to be compassionate, caring and have the ability to work flexibly and respectfully with families in times of crisis. You will have a genuine interest in building supportive relationships and a drive to understand how best to help others deal with the impact of cancer or a serious illness. If you wish to discuss the role further please contact Lou Leale on: [email protected]
